COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TEACHING OF GENDER IDENTITY AND LGBTQ+ ISSUES

CONTEXT

A school in the north of England received a formal complaint about its PHSE provision. Due to the sensitivity of the subject matter and its interest to the media, there was a significant risk of negative media coverage about the complaint.

ACTION

I supported the school through the process that followed, working through the key issues and helping to articulate a robust response to the complaint in a constructive and sensitive manner.

OUTCOME

The deployment of several different communications tactics ensured that the school was able to defend itself where this was needed, and reduced the potential for reputational damage.
